Supergirl - Snippet

NL: Het is alweer meer dan 15 jaar geleden dat VONCKEN zijn muzikale carrière begon met het programma Starmaker waaruit de popgroep K-otic ontstond. Terwijl de band meerdere hits scoorde waaronder de nummer 1 'Damn I think I love you' scoorde Bart per toeval een officieuze hit met het liedje 'Supergirl'. Het origineel van Raemonn kwam boven in de charts terecht nadat Bart de song speelde tijdens het programma, resulterende in een eigen versie op het K-otic album 'Bulletproof'. Voor de reunieshow van de band in december 2016 maakte hij een nieuwe versie. Supergirl 2.0;-)

EN: At the age of 17 (2001) Bart was one of the contestants in the first ever tv-talentshow in the Netherlands (it was even before idols). 12 singers lived in a big-brother-like house, being watched 24/7 for 12 weeks. The director of the show decided to broadcast a moment where Bart was playing Supergirl, a song by the German band Raemonn. That one moment launched the original song into the charts, resulting in it being one of the most played songs on the radio that year. This is a new version Bart made recently for a big reunion show in the Heineken Music Hall of the pop group K-otic, fifteen years after the tv-show.

We Are One - Snippet

NL: In november 2015 starte VONCKEN smane met filmproducer Dania Lopies het project 'We Are One' om zijn steentje bij te dragen aan serious request van 3FM. In samenwerking met Moonstudios uit Limburg en Drumband Animoso organiseerde hij een workshop met vluchtelingenkinderen in het AZC in Maastricht. De drums en zang van de kids werden opgenomen en verwerkt in de song 'We Are One'

EN: 'We are one' is a project Bart started together with film producer Dania Lopies for 3FM Serious Request in 2015. Serious Request is a yearly event 3FM initiates to raise awareness for one of the initiatives from the red cross. This years event was about education for kids in Syria. Together with studio Moon music and drum band Animoso, Bart did a workshop with kids in the refugee centre in Maastricht. The drum and singing parts of the kids were recorded and mixed into the song We Are One.

NL: Ze is zijn favoriete Nederlandse zangeres. Dus toen VONCKEN Elske DeWall vroeg of ze samen met hem dit duet wilde zingen, was hij in zijn nopjes toen ze ja zei. Broken Heart is zijn favoriete song op de Growing Old EP. Broken Heart gaat over de vicieuze cirkel waar mensen in terecht komen, wanneer ze zich krampachtig vasthouden aan een relatie waarvan het eigenlijk al duidelijk is dat het einde in zicht is.

EN: She's his favourite female singer in the Netherlands. By far! So when he asked Elske DeWall if she would join him on this duet, he was over the moon when she said yes! It's his personal favourite on the Growing Old EP. This heart breaking song is about the vicious circle people get into when a relationship approaches the end, but the inability to let go keeps postponing the inevitable.

NL: De titel van dit liedje lijkt voor zich te spreken. En wanneer je de hele song luistert doet hij dat voor jou misschien ook wel. Maar als je denkt dat deze song een huwelijksaanzoek was, heb je het mis. Net als 'Growing Old' gaat 'Love you 'till I die' veel meer over de realisatie dat een connectie die je maakte met iemand voor altijd is, ipv het maken van een connectie dmv een ceremonieel gebaar.

EN: The title of this song seems to say it all. And it probably does when you listen to the full lyric. But if you think this song was a wedding proposal you are wrong. Just like 'Growing Old' this song is much more about the true realisation of having made a connection for life, than about making a connection through a ceremonial event.
